I have been so tired this week. And busy with work. I feel like there are portions of my day where I just sit in silence as I work because the effort of paying attention to anything else is too much. That's new for me. I start my mornings with music, like go through new posts on YT or a playlist and then after I have lunch or a meeting or something that makes me take off my headphones I just don't turn them back on.

Which considering I just bought new cool earbuds specifically so I could walk around the house with my music still on, is saying something. All that said, I did come prepared with new music this week.

Jonathan Roy, who has this deliciously deep and wonderful voice, did a cover of one of my favorite Damien Rice songs this week. I have listened to it several times since it went up on YouTube and I really love it so much. Damien's voice is so specific and I thought I might miss his tone in this cover, but honestly, I didn't. Jonathan makes it his own.

The Main Squeeze did a killer cover of "Layla" on their channel this week. It's really fantastic. Corey's voice is just wonderful on this and Max's guitar work is stellar. I'm still new to this band but all the covers I've watched them perform now just makes me love them a little bit more.

The NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert series did a video with a new to me artist, Melanie Faye. She opens the video with a bit of Hendrix and right away I was hooked. She's got some effect on her microphone that occasionally threw me off but even still you can tell her voice is great. And after the tiny intro she played her own songs and they're great. The first one "Super Sad Always" is her take on quarantine times definitely hits right now. I'll be looking for them when her EP comes out next week.

And lastly, a big recommendation to my friends who love heavy metal. Please check out the channel Two Minutes to Late Night. They're bringing together metal musicians from a whole bunch of different bands to put together metal cover songs and so far they've all been great. I was shocked in this week's video to see Max Weinberg (of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band) with Frank Iero and others to cover "Earth AD" from The Misfits. Like, what a great combo. Last week's cover of "Anthem" by Rush was just AMAZING. Everything's been great so far.
