New Music Friday
Mar. 20th, 2020 11:05 pmI can't pretend the rest of the world isn't happening right now. It's all just happening too much. I know you know. So let's just talk about good music for a few minutes. If you have good music to share right now, please drop it in the comments. Whether it's new or old or just keeping your spirits up, share it here.
Recently, I put together my Nano novel playlist on Spotify and my plan was to share it in one of these posts until I realized how morbid all the songs were. (They're supposed to be, but when you put it all together in a single playlist it becomes real stark.) So I'll share that some other time when I'm ready hopefully in April to work during Camp Nano.
So for actual new music this week, I do have a few other things to share. I mean first of all... right now is such a good time for livestreamed content. Before my Tuesday night D&D call, I watched the Dropkick Murphys livestream their planned St. Patrick's Day concert from Boston to a crowd of 5 crew. It was great.
Today, Hozier did an instagram livestream which is now watchable there on YouTube. The birds outside his place joined in to sing along which was quite lovely as background noise. The Global Citizen YT Channel has a lot of the other #TogetherAtHome livestreams they've supported in the last few days.
Tessa Violet has been doing several livestreams this week on her YouTube channel called The Something to Look Forward To Tour which is really cute. They're very laid back, about an hour and a half each, this is the most recent.
Tonight I watched a two+ hour livestream from one of my favorite YT musicians doing covers, Chase and Sierra Eagleson, talented siblings with lovely voices and low-key vibes. You can see their livestream here.
And a little low-key quarantined humor from Scott Bradlee here in this cover of I Think We're Alone Now.
Speaking of Scott Bradlee, Postmodern Jukebox released a new video today, a cover of Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop".
There's a fun new video out for "Velvet" from Adam Lambert.
For a last video, I'll share one from last Friday, "Maria" by Two Feet. I've been living on their new album during the work days from home this week. Something about their mix of electronic and funky guitar riffs is just the right kind of put it on and groove for me when I'm working. And I do love this song in particular.

Date: 2020-03-21 05:47 am (UTC)I stumbled over Post-Modern Jukebox doing The Spice Girls' "Wannabe" in The Andrews Sister Style this week and ... loved it?
Nothing on my release radar jived for me today, but I listened during work. Have to try it again after I break this 90s/00s rock phase I am in.

Date: 2020-03-21 01:25 pm (UTC)Today, with the news about Kenny Rogers, I've flipped to 70s/80s/90s country with a lot of his stuff. Because I'm a nostalgic nut sometimes and this week is rough.
