What you can expect
This journal is primarily about my life, music & the occasional fandom diversion (mostly: Critical Role & Dragon Age). I do not have any particular friending policy; I welcome new friends and will usually add back. If you know me from elsewhere, feel free to send me a message. Thanks for stopping by. <3

Secondary Fanworks
You may podfic, MST3K, or create secondary fanwork of any fanwork I have posted. Please include a link to my work and let me know where you've posted yours. Please do not archive elsewhere.

Last year, I think one of the fandom type things I wanted was to learn how to make gifs. I've since learned that, although I haven't put that that to use quite as much as I'd like. It's still a time consuming process (for me), though I've been able to do it a few times with what I consider pretty good success. Be careful what you wish for, I guess. Still, I continue to really admire those people who can do it quickly and cleverly.

Last year in another post, I gave a bunch of reasons for people go to out there and watch the Dracula TV show from 2013. In the wave of yet another disappointing Dracula recreation, I'm right back to missing this ridiculous show and wishing that it had the kind of fandom presence it's dumb dramatic heart really deserved. It's only ten episodes, it's free to watch on the NBC website (here) and I NEED people to appreciate the heartbreaking beauty of what could have been between Lucy and Mina in this version. Then I desperately want fic I don't have to write myself.

Secondly, I'll repeat myself somewhat from last year. While art and icons and comments are all nice and good and I love them very, very much. My favorite fandom things to receive (aside from fiction itself) is a good fanmix. Obviously I adore music, but knowing someone has read my fic enough to understand the themes and or emotions of a piece enough to create a playlist for it, is pretty darn special to me.

I'd love more active DW communities for Critical Role or Dragon Age, since that's where I spend a lot of my fandom creative energy. I know there's active kink memes for both, but that seems to be about it these days.

There are two communities I really miss from LiveJournal that if someone has recs for similar communities on DW, I'd love to have. I know that [livejournal.com profile] commentfic is still active on LJ, but is there anything like that on DW? I've seen a lot of smaller ficathons on individual pages and several like prompt themed communities but nothing that does quite the same thing from what I've seen. I also miss the old [livejournal.com profile] crackvan community and while it seems like several fandoms have their own small rec communities there isn't anything more encompassing like that on DW. If places like this exist, PLEASE point me in their direction.

While I would like to get some of the energy of communities like that back in my life, if not just back to fandom in general. I also know that things aren't always going to be the way they were. No, this place might not be the powerhouse for fandom communities that LJ once was (for a variety of reasons). That's not to say we shouldn't put energy in the places we want to see grow. I feel a little like it's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy when I see people write about how there's not much on DW these days, but then those same people only post on their own journals without interacting with other people by finding new friends, commenting on other posts, engaging in communities. I like things like this snowflake challenge because it so highly encourages that type of behavior with the prompts and the posts and the conversations in comments. I guess this wish is that I hope people reach outside their comfort zone more often, both in their own posts but also in comments and communities too. I guess I hope people don't feel like they need a prompt or a challenge to come and talk about their life or their interests on a regular basis.

I agree 100% when it comes to fanmixes.

Oh yeah, Crackvan! I forgot about that comm, but it was fantastic.
