Tomorrow, we're planning to go to a friends house for a little Friendsgiving. I took today off work hoping it'd allow me to get more written on my Nano story if I needed it. I didn't necessarily need the day, but it was nice to have. It also let me take some time and bake an apple pie for tomorrow, which I have been craving like crazy. That and stuffing. I don't know I feel like even though we went to some of our family's houses yesterday for the holiday and I had some of that stuff, if you don't have the version of some foods that you're used to, it doesn't feel the same. So tomorrow we're having turkey and potatoes and stuffing and apple pie that we're making and taking to our friend's and then hopefully it'll feel like I actually had all the foods I wanted to.

I've been working hard... like feeling like a legit failure at this whole novel thing, not because I wasn't getting in the words (I have been) but because it all feels like awful writing. I hated it for most of the days this week and some of the days last week. Two days ago I was feeling like the whole story was worthless and November would be over and I'd toss it all back in the garbage. After today's words though, I'm feeling better about it. It took sitting down and forcing myself to finish some scenes I'd skipped over in my haste to get all the words in, and to better outline a couple of pieces. Now I know it's not a novel when I cross the 50k mark tomorrow, I've got a lot of writing yet to do to make it a full story. I'm definitely feeling more like it CAN be though.

Because of Nano and playing The Outer Worlds to come down from writing, I haven't been doing much of anything else. However, I have been listening to some work and videos while working on some projects at work this week. So I do have a few songs to bring up this week. Because it's been a holiday in the States this week, it's not much though.

First up, is this song from the Stories project I mentioned last week. They're acoustic covers from the same guys that do Scary Pockets (which are funk covers). This one is "Love on the Brain" by Rihanna, sung in this cover by Rozzi, who has the most amazing voice. I love her voice so much, it's like deep and sultry and is perfect for this song. I think "Love on the Brain" is one of those songs I can listen to a million times too, which helps.

Next is this live performance from the American Music Awards from Lizzo. This is "Jerome" which is my favorite song off the Juice album and she delivers such an amazing version of it here, live. I also love her dress, it's so great. The simplicity of the scene with the lights surrounding her is lovely too.

Lastly, is something very different. It's a three hour compilation of a bunch of mediation/lo-fi type music from THE INNATE, which is a project between this Reiki ASMR YouTuber and her music producer husband. If you have a hard time listening to regular music while you write, or need music to sleep or anything that's sort of subtle in the background, this is a really great option. The videos for these are always pretty subtle too, fractals or crystals or something simple and unobtrusive if you're putting it up on a television or second screen.

As a bonus, if you're ready for Christmas, I have two things to mention:

1) There's a really nice version of "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" from Postmodern Jukebox that went up today.

2) There's a brand new Pentatonix Christmas album, and they put out a series of videos on YouTube with the songs playing over a yulelog video, which is nice for parties or background music.

I hope you had a good week and found something nice to listen to in the meantime. I promise once Nano is over tomorrow, I'll be back with more regular content. :)
