Sparkle Mountain & Blaseball
Aug. 26th, 2020 12:49 amA new song from Andrew Huang which sounds a little like the art of Lisa Frank and Adam Lambert's vocal talent had a musical baby. (Sound warning, this song came across really loud for me, so you might need to adjust the sound on your computer/headphones first. Unless you like to live life on the edge like me.) It's a bop with fantastical lyrics and desperately the kind of glitter and happiness we could all use in 2020.
Also, I may have started dipping my toe into the Blaseball waters. I read this really interesting post from Cat Calypso about the game of Blaseball and how people on the internet have turned this interesting little cookie clicker-eque randomly generated Baseball game into an almost Night Vale-ian fandom. The community aspect is a little overwhelming, especially the Discord channel (given my inability to keep up with the few I'm already in), but just hanging out on the website during the day and watching this new season and betting on the teams. Well it's free and kind of entertaining.
This is the kind of thing like Flight Rising or Fallen London that I might just watch for a little while before forgetting about it and moving on. BUT for the time being, it's a good time for me, rooting for the Kansas City Breath Mints. :D
