No good excuses other than the realistic ups and downs of healing/recovery and sleep that are continuing. Things have been a little rough emotionally this week since Matt came home from the hospital so I've just been trying to give myself space as needed to feel things. If I post a bit less (or late) in the next few weeks, that'll likely be why.

I try to be pretty judicious about the genres I share every week, but this week is just a metal heavy week and I make no excuses. It is my favorite and this was a good week for new music. I mean, I enjoyed the new Miley/Ariana/Lana song for Charlie's Angels as much as the next person, but I'm sure it's about to be everywhere in the next few weeks.

If album releases are your thing (Spotify links) 2 metal, 1 alt, 3 folk/country in that order:

Now, I would not at all be doing my job as a music fan if I didn't mention that we got a new video on YouTube this week for a 25 year old Jeff Buckley song, "Lover, You Should've Come Over". He's young and lovely, with the voice of a fucking angel and this sort of live concert kind of video doesn't at all feel like it was shot in the 90's (as it must've been). It's good.

Next up and back on the metal train, is the new Lacuna Coil song. I'm really appreciating that the new songs they've put out recently seem to really be hitting it harder than they usually do. I'm excited for what their October album is going to look like.

Last, if you don't know about Ghost, nothing I can say is really going to prepare you for the thing you're about to witness. If you're like me and you have a real problem for people in masks, I recommend not watching. As much as I've come to really appreciate the sort of ridiculous nature of the music Ghost puts out, I know I'll never be able to attend a show in person. One of the biggest ways to get me to really enjoy a band is to know they put out seriously good music but they don't at ALL take themselves seriously. Ghost is one of those bands.

And then just quick here at the end there are two covers I wanted to mention this week. It's only happenstance that they're both covers of Beatles songs (YouTube links): Black Pumas - Eleanor Rigby & Chase Eagleson - Blackbird
