What's this a new music post? Two weeks late? You betcha! I promised new music this week and that's exactly what I have. Mostly this is the post I'd put together for the FIFTH and I'm just keeping it with a few additions and exchanges. I do have some new things from this week to add in. But catch me over here listening to the acoustic/gospel version of Lawrence's "The Weather" for a tenth time, just tonight. Look a lady had layers and sometimes she just wants music that feels both sad and joyful at the same time. This song is exactly that. And if I hadn't watched it again tonight I wouldn't have finally seen that Gracie's t-shirt says "They always say yee haw, they never ask haw yee" from [twitter.com profile] masonramsey and that's just an A+ shirt.

IF you haven't seen this stitch video of "mad at god" by Sarah Saint James, you absolutely should. It's a bunch of tik tok videos singing to the song, showing the parts of them that fit the song and there's a lot of body shame and queer shame that comes through in the lyrics here, not too mention the whole point of the song with the way religion triggers these issues in so many young people. I know personally I still struggle with both of these things even though I'm twenty-plus years divorced from the church as a whole. It's absolutely worth the watch/listen.

This is a too short song from RÜDE CÅT (itsrudecat), "Think You're Free". He's got this great soulful voice and a I was surprised and disappointed with how soon the song was over. He has this real smooth style and great sense of style. Also, he's done a SZA cover of "Good Days" with Jacob Collier (who seems to be everywhere I look on YT these days).

AND then last for the videos is this AMAZING song from Noah Cyrus and called "Dear August". And it's gone immediately on my list for potential yuletide or jukebox exchange options for 5 minute fandoms. Each of Noah's fits in this video are just perfection and I love the slick late 40s-early 50s vibe of her scenes and I wanted more of them. Also, it's a lovely soulful song that reminded me of some of the old Sam Palladino & Claire Bowen songs from that show, Nashville.

Now, for the plethora of songs I have just in linky link versions. I tired to give some one-off notes as I was going through them.

USERx - Headsick ft. Manchester Orchestra
Yonaka - Seize the Power this video has such a gaga vibe about it
Lous and the Yakuza - Tiny Desk (Home) Concert a Congolese Belgium woman singing in French
Sevana - Tiny Desk (Home) Concert a vibe, the song "Blessed" just had me grooving
Lunatic Soul - Hylophobia you're running through a forest, and a prog instrumental soundtrack is following you
Delilah Montagu - This is Not a Love Song what a quiet heartbreaker
Black Pumas - Strangers (ft. Lucius) if you like classic pop/rock music, you'll like Black Pumas
Jon Batiste - I NEED YOU this is the leader of the band on the Late Show with Steven Colbert, a fun soulful dancey number
Julia Stone - We All Have ft. Matt Berninger Matt has this wonderful deep voice that's a great addition to Julia's
Nenny - Tequila is a young female Cape Verdean-Portueguese rapper
Tanerélle - Boys Like You somewhere this song should be playing in a movie behind a badass female assassin

COVERS
Scary Pockets - Lean On (Major Lazer) I LOVE the atmosphere in this cover, it's so good. And Elise's voice is really great.
Hayley Williams - Teardrop (Massive Attack) her voice is so perfect for this song
Zella Day - You Sexy Thing (Hot Chocolate) I almost didn't include this, because it's such an iconic song but I really love the fun video for this
Jonathan Roy - Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) metal ponytail boy is at it again
Sershen & Zaritskaya - Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees) this makes a surprisingly good rock song, like a sexy 80s anthem (which is Daria's entire vibe tbh)
Violet Orlandi & Frog Leap Studios Leo Moracchioli - Listen to Your Heart (Roxette) a metal cover and I LOVE it (tw for fake blood, and puppets)

Speaking of Cyruses, Miley posted this video of her practicing for her spot at the Superbowl where she's running on a treadmill and singing and then turning around and belting a follow-up song while she's still catching her breath from the run. It is A LOT and really fucking inspiring.
