I don't know if this reference is something you'll get -- but, towards the beginning of the visit with Jake's parents I had this thought that Jake was something like the kid from The Twilight Zone movie who could make people do anything and was controlling his whole house. Especially like the weird dog shaking and stuff. Like things weren't happening unless he was thinking them into reality. (Which in a way I guess is true, if these are all scenarios in his mind.) That
