New Music Friday

This is going to be a weird music Friday post, so I hope you're interested in a few something differents.
I have been struggle-bussing big time this week. After we watched the boys last weekend, I woke up Monday morning with a horrible attack of my allergies and I think it's turned into a sinus infection. So I've just felt really run-down all week. It's made writing harder, some nights have felt a little like writing through a pretty deep brain fog. I also lost the small lead I'd made while we were babysitting, so that's made it just a little harder too. I've kept up every day with the full Nano wordcount (1667 words a day) but I have to admit that most nights this week have been really hard.
I left work early yesterday and stayed home today to try and get some extra rest. It's not helped incredibly well, yesterday I forgot to take my meds before bed which really messed me up overnight. My fibro and mood meds are pretty noticible within 24 hours of missing a dosage. This afternoon about 1, after I'd eaten lunch and still felt really awful, I realized the glass on my sink was still full of water which meant I hadn't taken this mornings dose -- and when I thought about it, I'd missed last night's too.
Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying Nano (and had a lot of fun talking to Dr. Whiskey Voice about it this week in therapy) but I'm ready for a break in December. More on that in another post later.
Now, on to the music!
I want to start with this amazing video that Polygon's Brian David Gilbert put out this week about the final song from the video game Journey, which came out a decade ago. BDG and his Polygon collegues put a lot of work into their interview with the composer for Journey and very lovingly describing his own journey to a final version of the final song. It's only about ten minutes or so, and I found it fascinating.
Next up, I want to point out a whole new music channel that's recently debuted and came stocked with a bunch of videos already. It's called 'stories' and it comes from the same band that makes up Scary Pockets (and part of Pomplamoose). It's an acoustic cover song channel and I'm in love with several of the songs they've put up so far, like a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on Fire" and Rihanna's "Diamonds".
I also want to share something I've not done before, which is a fan song. This song from Christine is a song written for the character Caleb Widogast from Critical Role. Caleb is not my favorite character, but this song is really lovely both in melody and lyrics and I don't think you need to know anything about the show or the character to find the song a good, bittersweet listen.
And I actually came prepared this week with a few honorable mentions:
Tell me what you listened to this week! I'm branching out on what I'm listening to while writing, so if you've got new stuff, I want to hear it.

- This AMAZING cyberpunk/industrial version of Country Roads
- HAIM - Hallelujah
- Rhett Madison - Pin-up Daddy
- Blackbriar - Mortal Remains
