July 1st
Tonight, I'm picking up an honest-to-goodness, have to work on it now, work in progress and trying to get something written. My Camp Nano cabin is small, since we started it late so I'm going to need help sticking on track this month. I set a low bar on word count, enough to finish the two fics I have in progress now: a long-standing DA fic I've been working on and my
justmarriedexchange fic. The first part of that fic manifested for me really quickly, I just need to put the rest of it together. And my DA fic has been languishing for a little while, and I'm finally getting some thoughts on how to work out this next chapter. This fic very specifically is hard to work on for me when I'm physically not feeling well. I know that's going to be tough for me as the month gets going, so I'm trying to block out as much of it as possible as early as I can.
I know I wrote yesterday about the writing goal setting I'm doing for this month, or most of it I think. But I failed to mention that I'm also thinking about signing up for the Reading Rush in the later part of July. The Reading Rush has become what the old Booktube/Bookathon used to be for YouTube readers/reviewers. They've built out a whole website for the event and it feels far more like something you can do to follow along with reading prompts and enjoy part of what makes a community event like that feel enjoyable without having to be a YouTuber. I've wanted to join in for years but it felt very insular (and also very much if you're not vlogging it are you even reading, bro) which I know wasn't at all the point of the event, just my perception of it. I read a lot normally, but I do like the challenge theme of this event and I also really like the idea of focusing more on physical books for myself, since I already do so many audiobooks.
Maybe I sign up and I don't do it, who knows. I've definitely probably not sold it well up there. But, it's at the latter part of the month and I'm hoping I'll have made my word goal by then and can relax with some books instead. Maybe.
Oh! Plus, a friend has promised me a read of her second book before it goes off to the copy editor at the end of the month. So I feel like it'll be fun to include that in the count of things I get to read.
If you're new here, welcome. I promise it won't be all writing all month, despite the Camp Nano fun I'm planning to have. Tags, links, transformative works and friend policies are all up top. If you have questions, please reach out I'm a pretty open book and I try to check-in daily. If you're here from the
sunshine_challenge say hello in the comments below if you'd like to introduce yourself today, but it's also perfectly okay to lurk here. I don't mind. :)
