I'll be honest, my sense of time is all over the place. I only worked Thursday and Friday this week and I only work Monday through Friday next week, so I'm having a hard time keeping track of the days right now. I only know what day of the month it is because of Nanowrimo and I'm behind on that right now so that's not a great way to keep track of time.

Anyway. This is a big list of music that's a combination of what I would've posted last week and what I wanted to post today. Hopefully you can find something amid this mess of songs to enjoy. I haven't gone through the new albums from the last two weeks, mostly because I haven't been listening to much more than what's on my Nano play list and what's shown up on my YouTube feed. But, there's a LOT in the list below that's a mix of new stuff and covers, so we're not at a loss for new music.

First up is this amazing Violet Orlandi cover of "You Outta Know" by Alanis Morissette. I've posted Violet's covers before because she has this great Amy Lee like voice that's well suited for big metal vocals. But this cover is all her from bottom to top, from drum to guitar to vocals and I think the end result is really something special.

I know I've posted a lot of the Two Seconds to Midnight covers, and to be honest I'm not crazy about the vocals on this cover of "Of a Lifetime" by Journey. But the musicianship in this one is so great, like maybe one of my favorites they've put together so far. Well worth the listen if you're a Journey fan, or even just if you've been enjoying the covers they've been putting together so far.

So Life from Planet Afropunk was a three day music and lifestyle concert event with people performing and giving classes and a bunch of stuff. This performance is a set of songs from Moses Sumney who brings this amazing showmanship to this remote set in the middle of an open field. His voice is lovely and I just love everything about this performance from the truck in the background to the physical performance that caps the whole thing off.

Okay, I was going to just stick this in the list below but I decided I loved it too much to just leave it in the list. If you want something new from a rock musician you might not have heard from before, PLEASE listen to this song from Daniel Thompkins, "Ruins". (CW here for the music video: blood & fire) If you at all enjoy anything with a Nu Metal or even Prog Rock/Metal sound to it, you should check out Daniel's stuff. Really, really good.

I hope you enjoy one or more of these songs! And please tell me what you've been listening too. I'm going to need new things to listen to on my drive back home at the end of this coming week.

I just saw this article that the Hadestown cast is putting out a Christmas album and while I haven't been listening to any Christmas music yet (that's what the whole month of December is for), I couldn't help but stop and give a listen to this preview of Leonard Cohen's "Come Healing". Patrick Page's voice is absolutely perfect for Leonard's music. It's lovely.

This article has a preview of the "Winter Song" cover that Eva and Reeve are doing and a track listing for the whole album. I don't think I've ever been this interested in a Christmas album before, but here we are.
