What you can expect
This journal is primarily about my life, music & the occasional fandom diversion (mostly: Critical Role & Dragon Age). I do not have any particular friending policy; I welcome new friends and will usually add back. If you know me from elsewhere, feel free to send me a message. Thanks for stopping by. <3

singedsun: the gravedigger from repo! the genetic opera holding up a blue vial (gravedigger)
I just got my desktop computer back up and running after many months. I've been on my small laptop pretty exclusively since I had my hysterectomy. I wanted to move my desktop upstairs into one of our backrooms but hadn't gotten around to it yet. Now that I know I'll be working from home for the pretty much foreseeable future -- likely through the end of the year, it was time to get it moved and updated. There's still some stuff I need to get, like a raceway for my cables and some lights and a good wrist pad. It feels like such a big difference after getting so used to writing on a very small screen for such a long time. This monitor feels like a huge television now.

On to this week's new music. Well, I don't have much to share on this front. I've spent a lot of my hours listening to a playlist I put together of metal bands with black members, much like the spotify playlist I shared last week. It's one I built on Google Play - for however long that's around anyway. If you're on Google Play, you can listen to it here.

But I do have a couple of things, because I always try to bring something.

Black Pumas put a cover of Tracy Chapman's Fast Car. There's not a video, it's just the album cut, but you can listen to it below.

We got a new Leon Bridges album that's amazing. Here's "Sweeter" (again not a music video, just the song from the album).

Lastly, check out Fever 333. Their a band on the playlist I linked to but they've also got a new album out. "Supremacy" is one of their new ones. If you haven't heard of them, they're a bit like the nu metal artists of the last 90s/early 00s. A little rap, a little rock with strong social and political lyrics. This one feels especially prescient right now.

Tell me what you've been listening to lately! Any Black artists you're supporting by buying/streaming their songs/albums? Let me know in the comments.
