I'm struggling a little this week. Things have been quiet, but I've been pretty withdrawn from the internet and while I've listened to a lot of music, I went down quiet a few older rabbit trails listening. Plus, New Years Day is playing tomorrow in a neighboring town and my friend and I are going to go see them, so I put them on for a bit too. But as I've mentioned many times, I'm a big sucker for cover songs and there's been three this week that I really enjoyed.

However, I did learn that Starset put out a new album last week called DIVISIONS. So if you're looking for a little more metal in your library, check them out. There's also the new As I Lay Dying album, Shaped by Fire but I haven't listened to it yet, so I can't vouch for it one way or another. (Both links go to Spotify.

First up, the internet tells me this guy was a contestant on The Voice, but I hadn't heard of him before he showed up in my recommendeds on YouTube. I don't have regular television, and even when I did the only music show I watched as AI waaaaaaaaay back in the day, like I'm talking seasons 2-8 and I didn't even watch all of those. That said, I really, really like this guy's voice. It's got good texture to it, and I've gone through and listened to a bunch of his other stuff on YouTube and it all sounded good.

Then there's this cover of "Welcome to the Black Parade" on Triple J. If you like covers, Triple J is a great channel to subscribe to, their Like a Version uploads are very similar to the covers on the BBC Radio's Live Lounge.

And then, while I can't feature him every week he is often in my honorable mentions. But this is my FAVORITE George Michael song and I really love this metal cover of it by Jonathan Young and Johnny Franck. Lee's guitar work is amazing as always and this is just a fun, dumb video with a really fantastic cover.
