I've been into R&B this week in general because it's kind of a happy place, put it on and let it run in the background kind of mood-lifter for me. This week at work has been utter trash so I've been listening to different variations of a radio station that starts with Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and it's been pretty great. So these choices this week might have a soulful or r&b vibe, no apologies.

If you're looking for something more playlist like, I'll start with this one. The Covers channel I like on YouTube has posted this five song video of soulful covers. It includes "Smooth Operator" by Sade and "Ex-Factor" by Lauryn Hill, and a little Whitney.

One of my favorite bands of the last few years, Lawrence, which is one of those continual go-tos for a attitude adjustment, has collaborated with Jon Bellion on their most recent album. Their new song "Casualty" went live today. I love it. (Not everyone gets Lawrence, they're definitely stylistic, but I have yet to hear a song of theirs I don't love.)

This is from last week, but I"ve listened to it A FEW TIMES now and it's perfect. This is an absolute LEGEND, Miche Braden with Post Modern Jukebox doing a cover of Old Town Road and it's just great. She has such a great attitude and I love that she scoots Scott out of the way to play for a little bit. It's wonderful. And you can tell that the band loves playing with her.

A few bonus songs:
  • OMGWOW the new Julia Nunes EP is finally out and she's got a video out for No Sudden Moves that's lovely.
  • If you're a fan of the song "Brandy Alexander" by Feist, I highly recommend this lovely cover by Mosa Wild
  • Lennon Stella did a stripped down cover of La Di Da for a radio station that was really nice.
  • Lastly, there's a new Tori Kelly song Sorry Would Go a Long Way that's soft and sad and feels like it swings a little country but I love it
