I feel like calling it a biopic at all is inaccurate. The book isn't a biography, neither is the movie a reflection of her actual life. I feel like if you removed the Shirley-ness out of it, it would've made for a more interesting movie. But the selling point is that they're trying to make a movie about Shirley that isn't actually about Shirley.
